Audient ASP800 - eight-channel microphone preamplifier

Audient ASP800 transforms your home recordings into world-class recordings! 8 uncompromising Audient preamps, two vintage-sounding Retro channels and two JFET DI instrument inputs enable creative use of microphones and instruments in your recordings. The sound is converted to digital for the ADAT bus using high-quality Burr Brown AD converters.

Each of the eight XLR / 6.3mm combo preamps has its own +48v phantom power for condenser microphones and a -15 dB pad that helps keep the signal spikes of louder instruments under control. For the first two channels, two-stage saturation consisting of HMX and IRON sections is also used.

HMX saturation models the harmonic distortion produced by 60s tube amplifiers, which supports the sound and gives it a distinctive tone. The IRON saturation, on the other hand, is a 1970s MOSFET saturation that is more inclined to the distortion style of the tape recorders of its era. Both saturations have their own controls with which the amount of the effect can be adjusted, and it is possible to use both at the same time - this way you get maximum control, whether you wanted to tone the vocal track or drive the bass track to more distortion!

The sound from the ASP800 pre-amplifier can be obtained either digitally via the ADAT (TOSLINK) bus or analogically via a 25-pin D connection.
