Raspberry Pi 4 Model B 4GB

The Raspberry Pi 4 Model B is the latest addition to the popular Raspberry Pi range of computers. Compared to the previous Raspberry Pi 3 model B+, the technical parameters are superior - processor speed, multimedia performance, temporary memory and communication modules.

Although the microcomputer has become more powerful, the power consumption has remained similar. All modules, attachments and screens are compatible with the new version. For the end user, the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B provides not much worse desktop performance compared to entry-level x86 computer systems.

The main features of this product are a high-quality 64-bit quad-core processor, support for two 4K resolution screens via micro-HDMI slots, which can decode the image up to 60FPS.

The Raspberry Pi 4 also features dual-band wireless internet connectivity 2.4/5.0GHz, Bluetooth 5.0, Gigabit Ethernet, 4GB RAM, USB 3.0 and PoE backup power capability (using a separate PoE HAT).

Dual-frequency wireless communication and Bluetooth networking have a compliance certificate, which allows the board to be used in the development of final products that have significantly less compliance testing, which reduces costs in the production of a new product.

Feature Description
3 Mini PC Versions Raspberry Pi 4 is available in 3 models with different capacities of RAM:
  • 1 GB of RAM (RPI4-MODBP-1GB) is no longer produced
  • 2 GB of RAM (RPI4-MODBP-2GB)
  • 4 GB of RAM (RPI4-MODBP-4GB)
  • 8 GB of RAM (RPI4-MODBP-8GB)
Processor BCM2711 Microchip Broadcom BCM2711 64-bit Quad-core ARM-8 Cortex-A72, clock frequency 1.5 GHz - allows the power to stand out from other older Raspberry Pi models
2 microHDMI connectors for monitors Raspberry Pi 4 has 2 microHDMI connectors, which enables simultaneous connection of 2 monitors via HDMI connectors, transmitting a video signal up to 4K resolution (4K 60 fps when connecting 1 monitor, 4K and 30 fps when connecting 2 monitors).
2 USB 3.0 ports The mini computer has 4 USB ports. Two 2.0 versions and two USB 3.0 versions
Ethernet network speed up to 1000 Mbps The Ethernet connection supports Gigabit networking
USB-C power connector The power connector is adapted to modern standards. Raspberry Pi 4 has a USB-C connector. the manufacturer recommends using a 5 V / 3 A power supply.
Bluetooth 5.0 A new Bluetooth standard that supports data transfer up to 2 Mb/s.
Connection arrangement The purpose of the connectors remains the same as the previous models, only the layout of some is different.

Raspberry Pi 4 video and audio

Raspberry Pi has two microHDMI connectors , through which video and audio signals can be transmitted up to 4K and 60 fps for one display or up to 30 fps for two displays. Built-in 4-pin 3.5 mm connector for headphones, speaker system or analog video signal via RCA composite connectors. Raspberry Pi 4 supports H265 (4Kp60), H. 264 (1080p30) video compression standards and OpenGL ES 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0 .

Raspberry Pi 4 operating systems

The mini PC still has a microSD memory card slot. The manufacturer does not implement eMMC support. The operating system can be downloaded via another computer and installed on a microSD card via a card reader. You can also buy a memory card with NOOBs software in Lemona, with which you can easily install one of the operating systems: Raspbian, Openelec, RaspBMC, or OSMC Linux during the first boot. There is also an option to install Windows 10 IoT operating system.

Raspberry Pi 4 communication capabilities

The Raspberry Pi is equipped with the 4 most popular connection options that are often found in regular computers:

  • 2 microHDMI sockets through which you can connect even 2 monitors supporting 4K resolution.
  • 2 USB 3.0 and 2 USB 2.0 sockets, through which you can connect a mouse, keyboard, a more powerful Wi-Fi receiver, or a USB flash drive. If there are still not enough connections, you can additionally connect an external USB switch (fork).
  • Ethernet network connection , which allows you to connect to a LAN network at a speed of even 1000 Mbit (Gigabit).
  • WiFi module - dual frequency 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, 802.11 b/g/n/ac, works out of the box with drivers installed in the latest version of Raspbian / NOOBs
  • Bluetooth 5 module is the most popular wireless connection that allows you to communicate with various wireless devices. The installed Bluetooth is the latest 5.0 standard
  • GPIO - The 40-pin GPIO connector is used to control LEDs, buttons, motor controllers and other controllers: I2C, SPI, or UART and many others.
